From Hannah's Beautiful Garden of Life

Hannah came home after she got her English Literature paper marked last afternoon. "Mamma, would you want to read my essay?" "Sure baby, a little later, after I'm done with serving you'll your snacks."

After snacks were served and all the three of them were settled, I took the answer sheet that was lying on the sofa. I began to read this simple piece of writing and by the time I had finished, I was filled with this strange tingling feeling...read on, you might just experience the magic :)

The Pear tree

Debbie lay in her bed with her eyes wide open. Could it really be true? Could there really be a magic pear tree which makes people wise? Couldn’t be. The only magical thing in her city was the fog. It came every morning and lay over the city like a silent ocean. Finally, her eyes closed as she dreamt about the magic pear tree which her Grandmother once told her about.

Cock-a-doodle- doo. Debbie opened her eyes once again. Nobody was awake. The sun had just risen. Not many people would wake up at this time. It was the perfect time to find the tree. Debbie knew the harbour like the back of her hand. There were millions of pear trees. Maybe, just maybe, one of them could be the magical pear tree. She had to find out.

Debbie opened the door and stepped out. A thick fog had once again enveloped the city. You could hardly see more than 3 feet ahead! There was a lake close by where most of the trees were in clusters. Debbie decided to look there first. As she ran past all the tiny shops, she imagined herself biting into the pear which made people wise. Debbie had reached the lake.
There was one tree in particular which caught her attention. It had so many rich, ripe pears on it. She plucked one of them and bit right into it.  Debbie waited for a little while as she relished the pear. The taste was sweet but surely not the magical pear. It was just an ordinary pear. She tried a few other pears from other trees. None of them tasted right and nor did they make her feel any different.

The Pear Estate
Debbie was just about to give up when she saw another tree which looked really special. The look of it gave her some hope that it could be the magical pear tree. She had a feeling it was THE tree. The only thing left to do now was to taste it. She looked around cautiously to see if anyone was watching. Now, the fog had lifted and it was easier to see.

Debbie plucked a pear out of the tree and took a big bite off it.  It tasted better than the best. Debbie felt a strange tingling feeling. It was happiness!!! After looking for so long, she found it. Debbie had found the legendary magical pear tree. She felt the joy and satisfaction a little kid would feel when they got a new toy. Debbie could not contain her happiness. She had to let it out.

Debbie ran to her Grandmother’s little cottage, burst open the door and ran in. Her Grandmother was an early bird so she was up already. “Granny, Granny,” Debbie panted, “I found it! I found the magic pear tree.”

“I knew you would” her Grandmother said with a smile.

“Granny, did you know about this before?”Debbie asked.

Her Grandmother just kept smiling.
