Dear Steffi, We miss you!

This was back in 2006, when there were still a few people who kept in touch through emails. Came across this email that I had sent to a few of my friends about our sweet little Steffi.

Hey,
I wouldn’t be able to write to everyone of u in particular so I thought of sending one addressed to all of u.
She was getting better... putting on a little weight... getting extremely naughty... very playful... very smart, though she was partially blind.  Before we could take her out for a walk, we would put the leash on to her… recently she began taking t leash in her mouth as soon as we put in on her… making it look like she is taking us for a walk instead.  She would just run as soon as she hit t road… making us run after her… she had some stamina… walking for about a kilometer sometimes.
Another habit she had started was, every time I was home and was busy doing something not paying attention to her, she would come and bite t end of my pants and hang on, thus getting dragged every time I walked.  It was so funny… and so extremely cute… though it left my trousers with holes at either sides.
She had begun to bite so much… no matter what we gave her to chew on, she would still want to chew bens legs or hands or mine.  She would lick us so much that we would actually get tired of it.  Every time I cried, she somehow understood and would simply come and lick me.  Every time I went for a bath, she would sit out of the bathroom, waiting.
Her favorite place was t laundry bag… she loved, just loved sitting and sleeping in it.  She loved steamed corn n jackfruit n sweet bread n bananas.
We recently got her a small pool and every time she went for a bath she just enjoyed herself, she would just go off to sleep in t pool.
Last Saturday, we took her for her final vaccination.  As usual she didn’t eat on Sunday and had loose motions.  She seemed sick Monday morning, so I put her in her pool and let her be for sometime.  Suddenly, she had motions with blood.  It began to get worse when something unusual began coming out of her back, I called Ben and asked him to get home immediately.  We rushed her to t hospital.  The doctors were just amazed at what they saw… within no time, there were about 8-10 doctors trying to figure out what was wrong.  I don’t know what happened in between coz I fainted-I have no idea why.  By the time I got back to my senses, the docs were trying to push whatever had come out back into her and finally sewed her back asking us to get her t next morning for a surgery.
That day, her eyes spoke.  I could see the love she had for us and her longing to be with us as much as possible. She kept bleeding drops t entire night and it continued the next morning.  In spite of that, she tried to follow me around t house showing how much she wanted to be with us.
We took her for her surgery.  It wasn’t successful.  She passed away half-way.
But she still looked like a doll when they got her out.  She was as soft as she always was, as cute as she always looked.  I just wished she would wake up and play with us, lick us as much as she wanted and bite us as much as she wanted.  But it seemed she was peaceful the way she was.   I wish it was easy, though it still isn’t.  We miss her terribly.
